- ✪ ✪ ✪ ✪ ✪My daughter had her braces put on today and I could not be happier that we decided NOT to go to Fehrman Orthodontics. We originally went to Fehrman for a consultation and cost estimate. At that appointment they indicted our daughter would need teeth surgically removed and also head gear would be needed (very costly). We were given a total cost at that appointment. Later that day we discovered that Fehrman was a PPO for Delta Dental which meant we were to receive a lower negotiated rate. We called them back and although we were given that contracted rate, our out of pocket costs really didn’t change. It seemed like they raised some other fees to make up for the reduced amount they agreed to charge by Delta. With all this said, the lady at the front desk was very rude when we called back to clarify the cost and arrange payment. We were ready to schedule but with so many questions not being answered as it relates to price and because she was so defiant and hostile, we decided to look else where. GLAD WE DID! We went to another PPO in Wausau and not only did we discover our daughter didn’t need teeth pulled, she did not need head gear either. In fact the Dr. we saw said there was absolutely no reason in his mind for head gear and couldn’t understand why teeth would need to be pulled. We ended up saving nearly $3000 and couldn’t be more happy. Often times we accept referrals as the gospel and don’t look anywhere else. That is a big mistake these days. My advice, call around and get 2 or more estimates before you commit to anything.January 10, 2017by Nick Simonis
